About Your Host, Jay Youmans
Although Jay first became involved with wine in 1978, it was in 2004 Jay Youmans became the 21st American to be awarded the prestigious title Master of Wine, as set by the Institute of Masters of Wine in London. Besides his partnership interests in No Vineyards and Winery, of California, Manse Field, a Pinot Noir vineyard in New Zealand and owner of Rock Creek Wine Merchants, Jay also judges Starwine International Wine Competition, The Atlantic Wine Competition, the Mid-Atlantic Competition, the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition and the California State Fair wie competition. His unpretentious and humorous approach to wine can also be found in his writings and lectures that include The International Wine Review, Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and of course his work with the Washington Wine Academy. We are lucky and honored to have his participation in visiting some of his favorite cellars in Umbria, Tuscany and Piemonte.
This is a handcrafted wine tour created for members of the Washington Wine Academy. You could find this no where else. We will be visiting 13 cellars from Todi to Turin, interspersed with walking tours, great meals, free time and even a cooking class in Italy’s most celebrated region for food - Emilia Romagna. Places we will see are Todi, Siena, Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Parma, Modena, Alba, Asti and Turin. |
