Founded in 1999, the Washington Wine Academy (WWA) was incorporated as a 501c3 (tax id # 31-1677833) Virginia non-profit, dedicated to the promotion and furtherance of wine education. In 2010, The Washington Wine Academy began developing the WWA scholarship program to promote the advanced study of wine and offer partial tuition assistance to individuals pursuing or furthering their careers in the wine, food, and hospitality industries.
The goal of the Washington Wine Academy Scholarship program is to raise awareness and further overall wine education and appreciation in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. This scholarship program will enable individuals in the hospitality and wine retail markets to take the higher-level WSET certification courses that are integral to their development as a wine industry professional. This education is becoming more crucial as the Washington DC area leads the nation in per capita wine consumption and, by providing subsidized education to the wine community, the entire DC wine drinking population will benefit.
The Washington Wine Academy scholarship foundation could not exist without generous support from community members and associations eager to support a more wine knowledgable community. The Foundation grants discounted certification tuitions to qualified members of our Washington, DC community, enriching not only their own lives but all those they touch and teach accordingly.
Washington Wine Academy grants a heartfelt Thank You! to the following:
